PLEASE PRAY FOR: Alan Lloyd, Andy Mark, Anne Harrison, Barrie Pape, Bob Barton, Brian Wright, Brian Tudball, Christopher Browne, Ciaran Casey, Colette Bannerman, Conor Dunne, Cynthia Misquita, Dave de Courtney, David Gentry, Fr Edmund Hartley, Elizabeth Tudball, Ernestina & Isaac Valladares, Harry Wilson, Isaac Miranda, Janet & Paul Rynehart, Jean Malloy, M. Jean Mounier, John Lodge, John McGarry, Juliet, Katie O’Rorke, June Rolph, Kevin Lamb, Kitty Hart, Len Griffiths, Lucia D’Agostini, Margaret Ellison, Margaret McHale, Mary Robinson, Moira Dawson, Moira Goss, Nicola Pape, Nikki Gallazzi, Patricia Barry, Paul Barton, Pauline Kearney, Peter Pope, Rachel, Rosalind Chittenden, and Ursula Caffarey.
ASH WEDNESDAY & LENT: Ash Wednesday is in three days’ time! You have till Tuesday morning to bring in your palm crosses from last year to be burnt for the ash! (Please put them in the basket at the back of church.) And then it is LENT! Ash Wednesday Masses are on 9.00am (St Joseph’s), 10.00am (OLHoC), and 7.30pm (OLHoC); the Lent Course begins at 12.30pm and continues throughout the season; and the Stations of the Cross are at 9.15am every Friday.
LENT COURSE – The first meeting of our parish Lent Course, “Moving to the Margins,” led by Fr Jamie, will be at 12.30pm on Ash Wednesday in OLHoC Parish Hall. It will follow on from the soup and roll lunch that the UCM have invited everyone to after Mass (see next paragraph!). On subsequent Wednesdays, “Moving to the Margins,” will continue weekly at 12.30pm until April 5th, and the soup and rolls will accompany the course.
UCM LENT LUNCH – The UCM are laying on a Lent Lunch of soup and rolls on Wednesday after the 10.00 Mass at OLHoC. Everyone’s invited to this – and to stay on for the first meeting of the Lent Course.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS – On Fridays in Lent we shall follow the Stations of the Cross at 9.15am at Guildhall St. This is one very good, simple, penitential practice to adopt during this time of preparation for our entering sacramentally and liturgically into the heart of the Paschal Mystery at Easter. I encourage you to come.
SINGERS ARE NEEDED FOR THE TRIDUUM! – We will start to practise the music for the Easter Triduum next week (on March 9th). Music PLAYS A VITAL PART in the Great Three Days that conclude the work of Lent. You don’t have to be a brilliant singer, or to be able to read music. AND – please note – this announcement is addressed to people from here at Guildhall Street AND at St Joseph’s! Come and join in the practices at OLHoC Parish Hall on Thursdays from 6.00pm – 7.00pm.
THE SUNDAY BIBLE READINGS in Polish, Czech and Slovakian are available at the back of the church.
WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER at 11.00am this Friday, (March 3rd) at GUILDHALL ST. This year’s service is prepared by the women of the Philippines! All are welcome and encouraged to come and take part (men are also allowed in!)
UPCOMING SPEAKERS: on March 5th we host our special CAFOD speaker.
100 CLUB: The February draw was won by Claire Jeffrey with number 2. The March Draw will take place on March 19th, after the 11.00am Mass.
